Cesc Fabregas insisted the most important focus is Como's match against Genoa as rumours linking him to the Chelsea job grow.

Fabregas is aiming to guide Como into the Champions League places in Serie A, but their recent form has not been ideal.

Como have lost their last two Serie A matches, against Inter (3-4) and Sassuolo (1-2), as many defeats as they had suffered in their previous 16 games in the competition (W10 D4).

They could lose three consecutive Serie A matches for the first time since January-February 2025 (against Atalanta, Bologna and Juventus on that occasion).

Como were also knocked out by Inter in the Coppa Italia semi-finals during the week, despite taking a two-goal lead in the second leg at San Siro.

Nevertheless, Fabregas has been linked with a switch to Chelsea, who sacked Liam Rosenior earlier this week.

And those rumours were fuelled by Como president Mirwan Suwarso, who said he would not stand in Fabregas' way if he wanted to join the Blues.

However, Fabregas reiterated his commitment to Como, who travel to Genoa on Sunday.

"I don’t have to say anything," said Fabregas. "I don't know anything about it. It would be stupid to think about things that aren’t important now, because this isn’t important to me.

"The most important thing is Genoa, the next match, and we want to do everything we can to win.

"Genoa have matured a lot since the last time we saw them. Given the quality of their players, I believe they are a top-ten side.

"Daniele De Rossi is doing an excellent job, and I think he is the right coach for the way they want to play. They look like a complete team and we will need to prepare our players well, because it will be a very important match.

"I think I'll continue as Como's coach: my experience as a player gives me peace of mind."

Four wins in six have seen Genoa move away from the Serie A relegation and all but confirm their top-flight status for another season.

They came from behind to defeat Pisa 2-1 last time out, which followed a victory over Sassuolo by the same scoreline.

Genoa – Lorenzo Colombo

Colombo is enjoying his best goalscoring season across Serie A and Serie B, with seven goals to his name.

After netting a penalty to decide the match against Pisa last time out, the 2002-born player could score in two consecutive top-flight matches for the first time since January (a run of three in that instance, also starting against Pisa).

Como – Nico Paz

After scoring against Inter and Sassuolo, Paz could score in three consecutive matches for the first time in his career in the top five European leagues.

The 2004-born player is one of only two midfielders in the current top five European leagues to have scored more than five goals both at home and away this season (six goals at home and six away in Serie A) – the other is Morgan Gibbs-White (six goals at home and six away in the Premier League).

MATCH PREDICTION: COMO WIN

Despite failing to win in their last two away Serie A matches (D1 L1), Como have already surpassed their record for points gained away from home in a single top-flight season (26 - W7 D5 L4), beating their previous best of 24 points from 19 away games in 1949-50.

Furthermore, with their next goal, Como (currently on 23) will equal their highest away goal tally in a complete Serie A season, which was 24, also in 1949-50.

However, Genoa are unbeaten in seven of their nine Serie A matches against Como (W3 D4), although they have not won any of the most recent three (D2 L1).

Following their 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture, the outcome of a match between the Ligurians and the Lombards could be repeated for two consecutive top-flight games for the very first time.

Two of the four managers born in the 1980s with the best points-per-game ratio in the Italian top-flight (minimum two games) will face each other in this match: Daniele De Rossi (1.56) and Fabregas (1.51).
