Lazio 0-3 Inter: Martinez stars in routine win for champions
Inter's first match as Serie A champions saw them ease past Lazio in what was a dress rehearsal for Wednesday's Coppa Italia final.
Lautaro Martinez played a starring role as Serie A champions Inter cruised to a 3-0 victory over Lazio.
The skipper scored and provided an assist for Petar Susic in the dress rehearsal for Wednesday's Coppa Italia final, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan also on target for the Nerazzurri.
Martinez broke the deadlock after just six minutes at Stadio Olimpico, volleying in from close range after Marcus Thuram flicked on Yann Bisseck's throw at the near post.
The Argentina international turned provider in the 39th minute, laying the ball off for Susic to double the lead with a neat finish.
After Edoardo Motta made a fine double-save to deny Bisseck early in the second half, Lazio were reduced to 10 men in the 59th minute, with Alessio Romagnoli dismissed following a VAR review for a late challenge on Ange-Yoan Bonny.
Gustav Isaksen twice went close to giving the hosts a lifeline, as he was denied by Carlos Augusto and Josep Martinez. However, Inter grabbed a third goal to put the contest to bed 14 minutes from time, with Bonny teeing up Mkhitaryan to fire into the roof of the net.
Data Debrief: Lautaro in a league of his own
Since joining Inter in 2018, Martinez has both scored and provided an assist in 17 Serie A matches, at least two more than any other player during that time.
The Nerazzurri are now unbeaten in their last seven Serie A games against Lazio (W5 D2), and have kept successive clean sheets in this fixture for the first time since 2010.
Inter have also won three straight away matches against the Biancocelesti in the Italian top flight for only the second time, having also achieved the feat between May 2017 and October 2018.
As for Lazio, their five-match unbeaten streak against sides starting the day at the Serie A summit came to a tame end.
