Liverpool boss Arne Slot bemoaned the injury suffered by Mohamed Salah during Saturday's victory over Crystal Palace, dubbing it "the story of our season".

The Reds consolidated their top-five place on Saturday, leapfrogging Aston Villa to fourth following a 3-1 win at Anfield.

However, the victory was marred by the forced departure of Salah, who limped off in the 59th minute with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

The forward immediately clutched his hamstring when overstretching for a ball on the edge of the penalty area and was swiftly replaced by Jeremie Frimpong.

The Reds will hope that does not represent Salah's final appearance in a Liverpool shirt, with the Egyptian set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

"It's too early to say, but we all know Mo and how hard it is for him to leave the pitch," Slot said during his post-match interview.

"For Mo to leave the pitch, it shows you something, but we have to wait and see how bad it is.

"Another win and another injury. It's the story of our season."
