Vincent Kompany has urged his Bayern Munich side to carry their mentality and belief from their draw with Heidenheim into their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

Bayern looked set for a 3-2 defeat at Allianz Arena on Saturday, but an own goal, forced by Michael Olise, rescued a draw in the 100th minute against the Bundesliga's bottom side.

Bayern have now earned 29 points from losing positions in the Bundesliga this season, which is a joint-record in a single German top-flight campaign (with Bayer Leverkusen in the 1999-00 season).

The Bavarian side will now turn their attention to their Champions League semi-final second leg against PSG on Wednesday, with Bayern 5-4 down in the tie.

Kompany hailed his side's desire against Heidenheim, insisting they must play the same way against PSG.

"It was the mentality, the belief in ourselves," said Kompany after Bayern's draw.

"Of course we could have done a lot better, but we mustn’t forget the lads did everything to avoid a defeat.

"We need to take that into the next game. Everything else are details we have to improve.

"Heidenheim fought tooth and nail and defended well. We didn’t play to our potential at the beginning; they made the most of it."

Leon Goretzka scored a brace in Bayern's draw with Heidenheim, including a brilliant free-kick before half-time.

It was his first brace in the league since January 2025, while he has now scored five Bundesliga goals this term.

Goretzka could not contain his excitement for their next match, which will also be played at the Allianz.

"You saw the lads are fired up," said Goretzka.

"I’m really excited, it’s going to be a cracker on Wednesday. I’m really fired up for the game, we want to advance to the final.

"Now it’s about gathering our strength, focusing and giving it everything on Wednesday."
