RB Salzburg 0-3 PSG: French champions cruise to vital victory in Austria
Paris Saint-Germain climbed into the final play-off spot in the Champions League table following a comfortable victory against Salzburg.
Paris Saint-Germain earned their first Champions League victory since Matchday 1 as they beat RB Salzburg 3-0 on the road to ease the pressure on them.
Portuguese forward Goncalo Ramos got things going with a fine finish in the first half and the visitors never looked back after that.
Nuno Mendes and Desire Doue added two in the second half to give Luis Enrique's side a vital three points, which takes them into the final play-off spot ahead of Wednesday's matches.
The French side threatened from the outset, through Lee Kang-in, Achraf Hakimi and Bradley Barcola, though Salzburg goalkeeper Alexander Schlager managed to keep them at bay initially.
But it was Hakimi who laid on the opener for Ramos before Mendes smashed a left-footed shot home in the 72nd minute after being set up by Doue. Doue then got the third five minutes from time to add some gloss for the visitors.
Paris Saint-Germain are now inside the play-off spots on goal difference, while Salzburg are four points back in 32nd with two matches remaining.
Data debrief: Paris Saint-Germain turn it on for vital victory
Paris Saint-Germain had not scored an away goal in this season's Champions League prior to Tuesday's match, while they had only managed three at home.
The result itself ended a three-game winless run in all competitions for the French champions, who had lost 1-0 away to Bayern Munich last time out in Europe.
With matches against Manchester City and Stuttgart remaining, they will need to continue performing well to have any chance of progression to the next round.
