Atalanta's late pressure against 10-man Genoa finally told as Isak Hien secured the visitors a 1-0 victory in the 94th minute.

Genoa played almost all of the game with a numerical disadvantage after Nicola Leali's third-minute red card, but Daniele De Rossi's side could not hold on in the end.

Daniel Maldini was set free for Atalanta three minutes in, and Leali rushed out of his box to hack down the 24-year-old, receiving a straight red card for his last-man tackle.

Gianluca Scamacca sent the resulting free-kick over the bar, and Charles De Ketelaere forced a sharp stop out of Leali's replacement, Daniele Sommariva.

But Genoa fought back, with Johan Vazquez and Vitinha forcing sharp saves out of Marco Carnesecchi before the break, while the latter also hit the post with a first-time shot 52 seconds after half-time.

Lorenzo Colombo's glancing header tested Carnesecchi again, and while Sommariva smartly kept out Nicola Zalewski's long-range effort, he was helpless on a corner as Hien headed the winner into an empty net.

Data Debrief: Leali makes unwanted history

Genoa were so close to walking away with what had looked like an improbable point, but ultimately, Atalanta made the most of their advantage.

Leali was sent off at 2:44, and is only the second goalkeeper to receive a red card within the first three minutes of a Serie A match since 1994-95. The only other being Luca Marchegiani for Lazio in October 1996 v. Cagliari.

Hien's first league goal of the season was a timely one, and it means Atalanta have scored five goals in the last 15 minutes; only Inter (eight) and Cremonese (six) have netted more.

Atalanta originally struggled to break down their hosts, but finished with 16 shots worth 1.6 expected goals (xG). They only managed one more shot on target than Genoa (four to three), with two of those coming in the 87th minute or later.
