Erling Haaland had no qualms about being substituted while chasing a hat-trick in Manchester City's win over Bournemouth, but he knows fantasy football managers may not see things the same way.

Haaland netted twice inside the first 33 minutes, with both goals being assisted by Rayan Cherki, as City ended the Cherries' eight-game unbeaten streak with a 3-1 win.

That made him just the third player to ever score at least two goals in four consecutive Premier League home games. 

Liverpool greats Robbie Fowler (four across 1995-96) and Luis Suarez (five in a row in 2013) previously achieved that feat.

The Norwegian – who now has 13 Premier League goals for the season – also had chances for a hat-trick, including a dinked attempt that was smothered by Djordje Petrovic.

Haaland was withdrawn in favour of Omar Marmoush in the 82nd minute, but he told Sky Sports he was not frustrated about being denied a chance for his treble.

He smirked: "There were probably a few fantasy managers who were not so happy!

"It was an important win. It was good to bounce back after losing a bad away game. It was nice.

"I tried to contribute for the team by doing my job. It is good to win. Now there are two more important games to come, so we'll keep focusing.

"I try to help the team to win. That is my goal and even by scoring or helping by winning duels, it doesn't matter. I want to help the team become better, that is my job."

Bournemouth suffered their first defeat since matchday one (a 4-2 loss at Liverpool), but winger David Brooks acknowledged they were always facing an uphill task. 

"It was always going to be a tough game against Manchester City. It's probably the hardest week to prepare for," the Bournemouth captain said. 

"We knew we had to come here and be the best version of ourselves and a few minor details cost us today.

"We look to press, but Manchester City are extremely comfortable on the ball. In the first half, we created a lot of opportunities for ourselves through the press. 

"But the big man up top for them – Haaland – is always going to be a threat." 

Asked how Haaland can be stopped, Brooks said: "It's almost impossible. He's six-foot-five, strong, and a massive threat when the ball falls to him. He took his chances well."
