Franziska Kett scored and was sent off as Bayern Munich held on for a 1-1 draw against Barcelona in the first leg of their Women's Champions League semi-final.

Germany international Kett cancelled out Ewa Pajor's opener at the Allianz Arena but pulled Salma Paralluelo's hair and was given her marching orders 10 minutes from time.

Jose Barcola also saw red for his response to the decision, but Bayern, who lost 7-1 when the teams met earlier in the competition, were able to cling on for a draw in a tense semi-final first leg.

Barca took the lead in the seventh minute when Esmee Brugts picked out Pajor, who moved level with Alessia Russo at the top of the scoring charts with her eighth goal in the competition this season.

The visitors went close to doubling their lead early in the second half when Brugts hit the foot of the post, before Patri Guijarro had a header cleared off the line on the hour mark.

Bayern remained a threat and got the goal they deserved in the 69th minute when Pernille Harder broke away on the left and teed up Kett for a fine finish.

Kett and Barcola being dismissed set up a tense finale, during which Mapi Leon had a blistering effort tipped over and Paralluelo skied a chance to net a stoppage-time winner.

By holding on for the draw, Bayern made it eight games unbeaten in the competition - their longest streak since at least 2016-17.

Although Barcola's side only attempted seven shots, their lowest total in the Champions League this season, they still have a great chance to reach the final for the first time.
