Pep Guardiola has demanded that Manchester City do not let their focus slip after beating Arsenal, as they aim to overtake the leaders with a win over Burnley.

City are now just three points behind Arsenal, who they beat 2-1 at the weekend, with a game in hand, and they would go top of the Premier League with a victory on Wednesday.

Guardiola's side are in fine form, going unbeaten in their last 10 Premier League matches, and have a strong record against newly promoted sides, going unbeaten in their last 29 such games (W26 D3), since losing to Leeds United in April 2021.

And the Spaniard is keen to keep their recent run going, urging his team not to get complacent after Sunday's victory.

"We talked immediately after the game, do not lose the focus," he said. "Arsenal are top of the league, and right now, they would be the champions.

"It's a demanding game we had, both emotionally and physically. But at the same time, we have six games left. We know exactly what is going to happen when we get the result or if we don't get the result."

City will be without Rodri for their trip to Turf Moor due to a groin injury, though Guardiola brushed off concerns that he is set for another long lay-off.

"I think he will not be ready for tomorrow, and we will see for the next games," Guardiola said.

"Maybe [the FA Cup semi-final] against Southampton [on Saturday] or maybe in 12 days [against Everton]."

As for Burnley, defeat against City would mean they are relegated from the Premier League with four games left to play, following Wolves down to the Championship.

The Clarets are winless in their last seven matches (D2 L5), but Scott Parker acknowledged they have known their likely fate for a long time. 

"Regarding the outcome [against City], and the situation of what it could be, it's one the players have probably been facing for some time, really," Parker said.

"I don't think it [relegation] is a big player in terms of us. That's been the challenge for us over the last few months, to be honest with you, because we have not managed to pick up results.

"That burden has obviously been on our shoulders for some time now. That may be the reality, that's the way it is and where we are now in terms of our season."

Burnley – Zian Flemming

Flemming scored the opener for Burnley against Nottingham Forest last time out, meaning he has now scored 89% of his Premier League goals away from home (8/9).

He will be desperate to improve his tally of one single home goal, though, having accumulated 2.5 expected goals (xG) from 25 shots at Turf Moor.

Manchester City – Erling Haaland

Haaland has scored seven goals in four appearances against Burnley in all competitions.

His minutes-per-goal of one every 36 minutes against the Clarets is his second-best at City, behind his one every 26 minutes against Luton Town (six goals in 158 mins).

Manchester City have won 14 of their last 15 Premier League games against Burnley (D1) since a 1-0 loss at Turf Moor in March 2015.

Burnley have won just one of their 19 Premier League games against City (D3 L15). They have lost their last 11 in a row against them, their longest-ever losing run against an opponent in their league history.

City have scored at least five goals in five different Premier League matches against Burnley – no side has done so more often against another in the competition's history.

Since the start of December, no team has won more away points in the Premier League than City (21 – W6 D3 L1), with their only defeat coming at Old Trafford versus rivals Manchester United in January.

That does not bode well for Burnley, who are winless in their last 12 home Premier League matches – only once in their league history have they had a longer league run without winning at Turf Moor, going 14 between February and October 2021.
