Barcelona to Remain in Formula 1: Agreement Until 2032 With Alternating Calendar
Formula 1 extends Barcelona deal until 2032, but the Grand Prix will rotate with Spa
Grand Prix will rotate with Spa
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will remain on the Formula 1 calendar through 2032, although the Grand Prix will be held on a rotating basis with the historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in 2028, 2030, and 2032, organizers officially confirmed.
The agreement between the Catalan venue and Formula One Management extends a partnership that was set to expire in 2026, ensuring Barcelona’s presence on the world championship calendar — though no longer uninterrupted as it had been since the track’s inauguration in 1991
The 2026 season will mark a major shift for motorsport in Spain, as the country will host two Formula 1 races: one in Montmeló and another in Madrid, which is set to stage the Spanish Grand Prix continuously from 2026 to 2035.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali welcomed the extension, highlighting the passion of Barcelona’s fans, while Catalan authorities emphasized the event’s economic impact — estimated at more than €300 million per edition — as well as its strategic importance in promoting the region internationally.
